To fly or not to fly – what to do?

It was 5pm on Monday evening and Charlie was headed for Zurich from London. He had a monthly meeting with the management team. As usual he’d packed his suit bag with a few cleaning products. The Addison lee taxi was waiting outside his Notting Hill home.

Charlie was running a few minutes late and as he left he put his keys in the lock of his door on Ladbroke grove w10 London and walked down the steps to hand the taxi driver his suit bag.

Returning to the door of the house to pop inside and collect his laptop and jacket… the door was closed. Where was the door key?

That is odd he thought I was just holding them. He paused for a moment to re-track his steps and recalled he had left the key in the door for what seemed like a moment on Ladbroke grove opposite Ladbroke Grove station. Could a passer-by have taken his keys? This felt impossible, but there was no other explanation. As reality sunk in he realised the keys were lost.

The taxi driver and him sat in amazement. What were they meant to do now?

Shall we call to locksmith locally in w10 or ask my cleaner for a spare key?

There was no time, he called the local locksmith in W11 or W10 London when I picked up the phone and realized that he had a plane to catch, I said that instead of taking a taxi to the airport the Heathrow express from Paddington station w2 would be faster. He was in luck and we were able to have a technician with him in 10 minutes. I advised to the technician that he would need to act fast as Charlie had a plane to catch.

On arrival to Ladbroke grove w10, the technician advised to Charlie that it may be best to fit a temp locks till he arrived home. On arrival back in the UK Charlie could at his leisure decide on the permanent lock he wanted.
Charlie was happy to go ahead. He was back in his taxi with all his bags and temp keys heading for Paddington station within 20 minutes.

He called me from the train to say thanks and that he was miraculously still on time for his business trip – he booked us to come to change his locks in 2 days’ time.

Stella is 89 walking in Holland Park London W14

Stella is 89 a wonderful lady , still going out and about daily ,walking in Holland Park London and keeping herself independent. The other day she popped outside her home in w10 to put the rubbish in the bins and the pulled the door closed forgetting to take her keys with her there she was sat on her door step. Thankfully her lovely nephew is a locksmith – the only problem is that she doesn’t have a mobile phone or a number for him with her.

Luckily after a few moments one her of kind neighbour was passing and she said hi Stella what’s news. Stella said I’ve locked myself out and here I am in w10 needed a locksmith! Julia said oh Stella dear come over to our house let’s have a cup of tea together and sort this out.

Stella was so grateful she used Julia’s phone to phone her family and got her nephews number and very soon he was bopping along in his white van to rescue her with his locksmith skills.

As she has a U PVC door they can be rather tricky to open as they have a multi-point locking system and they are super as security prevention but they don’t do much to help locksmiths do their job!

After the door was opened he advised his auntie to also take the keys outside with her – even if she was only going to water the plants very soon it would become a habit and a good one at that!

He gave her a lovely large sized keying which helped her to sub consciously remembers that her keys were in her hand. If you forgot your keys a lot this is a good idea as a solution it makes them bigger than the problem and you’ll remember where there are – you will not be able to miss your keys next time.

Nightmare before Christmas in SW10, Chelsea

It was the nightmare before Christmas lunch …. 12.30 in the afternoon on Christmas day in England; presents all wrapped and guests on route to Uncle George’s apart from Henry.

Henry was at home in SW7 south Kensington, London making the final touches to the turkey ready for Christmas lunch at George’s in SW10, Chelsea, London. All the family were coming everyone has been looking forward to spending Christmas together … but Henry and the Turkey maybe were going to miss out!

You see, Henry was getting ready and putting the finishing touches to the Roast Turkey, he popped into the garden to pick some Rosemary and Sage . But it was just after 1pm now and Henry had locked himself in the garden a gust of wind shut the door as he popped into the garden. It was Christmas day Henry thought “How will find a locksmith today? I don’t even have a phone with me. The turkey meanwhile gets cripser by the minute in the oven!”

He tries the neighbours bells, luckily Frankie and Jeffery were having Christmas lunch at home they suggest looking on ‘Which Local’ who are contractors recommend by readers for readers. Locksmiths he searches in SW8 or nearby… Ping Locksmiths of Kensington and Chelsea pops up and they pick up the phone and call bring bring bring bring … they look at each other thinking no one’s going to answer today and to his amazement he heard ‘Hi how can we help you’
Fantastic they thought.

Yes yes yes they heard in answer to each question and finally we can be there in 20 minutes and the technician arrived and opened the door with speed . Although the Turkey was a little crispy a touch of gravy later and lunch was looking better too.

It was the story of the day over lunch , well until the games started!

I suggest as a future solution you keep the lock on the latch or take the keys with you next time you pop outside for just a moment!

That year we received a late Christmas card from Henry, it said “All was well done thanks Locksmith of Kensington and Chelsea – Thanks for a lovely Christmas lunch all the family enjoyed the turkey too”.

If you or your family need help with an emergency locksmith or for any routine requirements we are always happy to help.

Bath time on Edith Grove w14 London

‘Tis was about 6pm on a wintry Wednesday evening, we received a call from an understandably hysterical Sophie, its my daughter Daisy she says. I had just finished running her bath.

She’s 4 year old and locked in the bathroom, the bath is full of water, Sophie says with panted breath.

We instruct the nearest locksmith technician immediately who was in Holland Park finishing a security checks on a new home. And he told the client he had to come back as there was an emergency. He left W8 and drove through Holland park to Kensington and within minutes thankfully had reached Olympia within minutes is at Sophie’s door in w14 .

It actually on the outskirts of Hammersmith and thankfully the traffic angles were a great help.

Meanwhile Sophie’s trying to entertain daisy in front of a closed door and keep her from going into the full bath.

While the door was opened by the locksmith technician Sophie negotiated with Daisy to stand under the sink and she if she can touch the sink with her hands – this game cleverly kept her out of the bath and away from the door that was being forced open. The door opened, Mother and Daughter were safety reunited.

When everyone was calmer and Sophie offered the locksmith a cuppa and while they were sat down with tea in hand, she begins to share the story … The phone rang Brah Brah …. I answered it  , then I hear SLAM daisy managed to shut the door with force and the one way inside lock with the force of the slam must of jammed itself close as it’s a latch lock and the bolt on it was rather lose .

The lock was too high for Daisy to reach up to it.

At that moment I answered the phone and in a moment Daisy was locked into the bathroom! Can you believe it she says? The bath was full of warm water and the door looked I felt so helpless.

We were just getting ready for bedtime!

The locksmith advised that as a solution so that can not happen a secondtime it may be wise to replace the latch lock, to something that gives her control from the outside with her little one.

The Locksmith suggested replacing with a twist lock on the inside of the bathroom which needs turning to lock and a key to be able to lock and unlock from the outside. This way both sides are fully functional.

Another way to solve this could be a security check on a new home or if there is a change in your living circumstances or a little addition to your family.
